Kiki The News of the World by Paulette Jiles. If you like atmospheric writing that puts you truly in a place and great characters, it's great!
Leslie Have you read Burial Rites? Really good. Also by Hannah Kent.
Wayong The Girl with All the Gifts by Mike Carey
If you can deal with zombies, it’s a very different take on zombies & a post apocalyptic world. There’s no gratuitous violence but it is unsettling.

One of the main characters is a young girl who is twice exceptional- gifted & with Aspergers- (and whom may be a zombie). The author is very familiar with kids who are on the Autism Spectrum & students in residential programs & special needs schools. He doesn’t make a big deal about the girl’s ethnicity (from London & a light skinned Black kid); while her abilities & challenges are a driving force, they don’t feel like a plot device.
Anne The Shut Eye. Belinda Bauer.
MyKindleandaCupofTea 'The Midnight Watch' by David Dyer is a gripping read.
