How do you deal with writer’s block?

Ian S. McCain I hide. I run and I hide... Actually. I try two things. I pull myself out of the story completely. I do something else, play with my kids, watch a movie, read a different genre... Then I go back, and if my head still doesn't feel fresh i force it. I write and write and write and most of it is garbage I know I will through away, but eventually after wading through muck, I find a seed of something. A small glowing little ember that I can nurse into a growing fire...
