Goodreads asked Tessa Harris:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Tessa Harris The idea for The Lazarus Curse, my fourth book in the Silkstone series, came to me on holiday in Cornwall. I went to look round an old brig that was moored in a beautiful harbour and discovered it had featured in a number of period films and TV series. One of them was the dramatization of "A Respectable Trade" by Philippa Gregory, which dealt with slavery in 18th century England. It was an area of history that was unfamiliar to me, so I started researching and was amazed by what I found. I just had to weave a story around the stranger-than-fiction facts.
