Goodreads asked Julia Rawlinson:

How do you get inspired to write?

Julia Rawlinson Lots of different ways! When my children were younger they gave me lots of ideas - by trying to hatch anything egg-shaped (Fred and the Little Egg), asking me to fix an autumn leaf back on a tree (Ferdie/Fletcher and the Falling Leaves) or being sprinkled with snow-like blossom (Ferdie's Springtime Blossom/Fletcher and the Springtime Blossoms). Rosie's Special Surprise came from a bouncy rhythm in my head, and for the current rhyming picture book I'm working on the opening lines just popped into my head.
