Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

David Barrie I suddenly realised that the great art of celestial navigation had (almost) become an irrelevance and that nobody had even noticed. I wanted to remind people how important it had once been and how much we stood to lose if we turned our backs on it completely.

Hi, I very much enjoyed Incredible Journeys. Regarding the experiments with various animals, I was wondering about the ethical aspects. When describing the bird relocation experiments of Perdeck you say that this would not be allowed now. But the book is full of similar relocations and much more intrusive, chirurgical, experiments. Can you understand I have some reservations when reading this?
