Goodreads asked Mark E. Fisher:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Mark E. Fisher What's the best thing about being a writer? I guess it's being able to create new worlds. Taking the reader to places far removed in time, culture, and geography. Such a world can be historical, from an era long past, that when we look on it today, appears as foreign to us as if we'd landed on a distant planet. A place where the rules, attitudes, culture, and people are different. Yet through the differences, we see the universality of the human experience under God. Such a place can also be a fantasy world. Yet even a fantasy world can be based on long-forgotten eras and cultures, turned and twisted to intrigue, delight, and enlighten us. So I guess I'm saying it's the process of creation, being able to create, and the sheer fun of writing, living in, and presenting this creation to the reader. In other words, the writer can have even more fun creating such a story as the reader has reading it.
