Goodreads asked J.S. Marlo:

How do you get inspired to write?

J.S. Marlo I often take small details or events from real life and extrapolate from there with ideas sprouting in my mind as it wonders "What if that had happened?", "Or this?", "Or that person did or said that?"...

My daughter is a scuba diver and one summer, she had fun exploring shipwrecks. Well, that gave me the idea of making my female heroine in Salvaged a scuba diver. As I wondered what kind of job could be pertinent for a scuba diver, I thought why not make my heroine an underwater investigator who looks at vehicles dumped in lake or river for insurance scam. Her life--and mine--changed the day she stumbled on a Model T.
