Goodreads asked Gavin L. McAllister:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Gavin L. McAllister The best thing about being a writer is the same as the best thing about being an artist. You are able to produce, and not only produce but produce the intangible within all of us. Art is a window into the human soul. It sometimes gives us a sense of melancholy when we write and capture these feelings and moments, very similar to Keats' "Ode to Grecian Urn" or Tennyson's "Lady of Shalott", but art is very important to humanity. I find that the greatest thing about being a writer is that I am able to transfer pieces of myself onto the written page so that others might find deeper meaning within my work.
