Goodreads asked Eric Hood:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Eric Hood Write.

Yes, that sounds patronizing as hell, but it's the the best advice there is. A writer that writes is infinitely better than somebody that's just thinking/wishing/dreaming about writing. Regardless of how good or bad you are, when you sit down to write (preferably every day) you instantly become better than most of your so-called competition.

So if you want to become a writer; step one is to Write.

By the way, Step two is to Finish What You Start, and I have serious issues with that one.
