I was sitting alone in a company library on my lunch hour when I finished my first novel, A Game. There was nobody around. Just me and loads of books. And I felt a joy and a satisfaction at that moment that was mine alone but very sweet. The best thing about writing is when you read something you've written and YOU think it's good. When you are impressed with your own writing, it's a pretty gratifying experience. Writing is an outlet for me in addition to being an intellectual exercise and a challenge and a lot of fun, sometimes, but I think it's a different experience for different writers.
