Goodreads asked Karen Booth:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Karen Booth First off, I'm not a fan of "aspiring". If you write, you're a writer. If you aspire to be a published writer or author, my best advice is to not give up, especially with the writing. If the writing isn't there, if you haven't put every ounce of sweat you can muster into your book, it won't get you very far. This business is built on rejection and that's not just for those looking to be published. Established, successful authors are rejected every day. You have to look beyond it. Build a support system. Befriend other writers. Educate yourself about the business. Most importantly, write your butt off, and don't give up. It's so easy to give up. Don't do it. You never know what opportunities lie ahead!
