Jack Taylor There are but they are all two-dimensional objects for Kvothe (the main character) to either lust over or rescue (or both).
Julian Dexter There are a couple, but the only one who has even a hint of agency is Denna. However, she's still very flat and is primarily there as an object of Kvothe's affection and is almost more of an extension of Kvothe.
Alex Very few and all fall into stereotypical gender roles (damsel in distress, love interest, mother, etc.)
Diana Denna, Fela, Auri - yes, but also Mola. I know she's only a secondary character, but somehow she's the one that stuck in my mind the most and I like her a lot
Willow The female characters were definitely not as good as they could have (should have) been, and there was a lot of girls being saved by guys. However, speaking as a girl, I was able to relate to a lot of the female characters and also think some of them are pretty epic (Auri is definitely my favorite character).
