I really love the Dreamblood duology. Setting the story on the moon of a gas giant makes for some really cool imagery. Do you have any plans to return to that setting? Are you the type of author who writes extensive worldbuilding notes beforehand, or do you come up with the setting as you write the story?

I don't think I'll be returning to the Dreamblood setting. I have a short attention span. :) Generally once I've finished something, it's done and I don't want to revisit it. Anything's possible, of course; I'm doing a new novella in the Inheritance setting now -- but the Inheritance books are more recent for me, while it's been years since I wrote the Dreamblood books. I think if I was going to feel the tickle again, it would've happened by now. Sorry!
As for your worldbuidling question -- yes. :) I do both.

I've seen your first name used (Nora) in some recent press i.e. (http://bookriot.com/2014/05/29/fantastic-future-nora-jemisin/). Was this intentional? If so, why'd you decide to do it? (I can guess at the reason for using initials initially!) If it wasn't intentional, how do you feel about it?

Hello! First of all, I’d just like to thank you for all the amazing reading experiences that your books have been. The Broken Earth blew me away, and I’m looking forward to getting caught up on all your other novels! Secondly, do you have any tips for plotting a story and creating complex characters who feel like real people?

You create characters whom I hope to meet someday. I was thrilled at your use of geology and its anthropomorphism. My question: If you were to conceive of an earth utopia, what would an essential handful of characteristics of the people/society/structure be? I saw a flash of this in Emergency Skin. I have a close held belief that if we can envision it, we can get there. You seem uniquely qualified to provide this.
