Dave asked Henry Martin:

What is the True Review Pledge Henry? I'll probably be able to start Leaving Barcelona tomorrow.

Henry Martin Thank you for this question, Dave.

The True Review Pledge is a pledge to write and receive only true reviews. In a normal world, such pledge would be completely unnecessary and utterly nonsensical. Unfortunately, we live in strange times.

When one frequently encounters glowing reviews by unscrupulous authors who exchange reviews with one another (without actually reading said books), or reviews written in exchange for a monetary compensation, it is a way to distinguish one's self from such practices.

To put it simply, it means that every review I write and every review I receive is real, not paid for, and not bartered in like exchange.

Silly, really. But seeing the countless threads on goodreads where unscrupulous practices are hawked like cheap wares in a dark alley, I felt it right to let my readers know that I'm not part of it.
