Goodreads asked Ryan Cartwright:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Ryan Cartwright Write what you love, write what you know. If you are writing children's fiction don't patronise them. Even smaller readers can spot when you're not trying. Have a clear direction you are heading with the plot but don't be afraid to stop and rewrite it if you think of something better. Finally always keep a copy of previous versions of a story or book so you can recycle those ideas into a later story.
