Goodreads asked Matthew Davenport:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Matthew Davenport Action words. If I can't think of what to write or where to go in a story, I just pick a random action word and turn it into the start of a sentence.

ie: Action Word: Jump.

Then I write a short sentence that uses the word and some random name.

ie: Adam jumped through the onrush of water.

Then I just keep going until the idea has killed itself or I have a book. Whatever comes first.
