well isn't it a waste of time about the events of this book ? WIKED invented and released the flare and later try to find a cure ,but then failed . the runners went through all the trials but finally escaped to a '' safe heven'' and started a new life .... then what is the point of going through the trials ? All the events in this series can not happen and the world will still be the same as it already is.

ATrueBookworm WICKED truly believed they could find a cure, which is why they held the trials. They simply failed. The point of this book was to wrap up the problems caused by WICKED's presence in the world.
