Goodreads asked Carolyn Boehlke:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Carolyn Boehlke I find something else to write about. If I'm stuck on a plot point, I skip to a different part of the story where I know what happens. It also helps to have a conversation with the characters. They know their own story. If I can take a break from writing their story and have a conversation with them on paper, not only will I learn more about who they are, but they often will reveal more about their own stories than I would have imagined. Finding a different approach is the best way to side-step, crawl over, or dig under writer's block.
