Dear Susan Power, or anyone else who has read this book, I've been trying to find this book for ages. I read "The Grass Dancers" shortly after it came out and wanted to read more of S. Power's books. "SHS" is really hard to find, and probably out of print now. But was it ever in print? There seem to be no copies available anywhere. I sent an email to Penguin / Putnam, they seemed not even to have heard of it.

We did a group read of one of her books last year and were lucky enough to have Ms. Power come by and comment on our thread.
She said " ... I wanted to clear up the confusion about Strong Heart Society. I wrote another novel, titled War Bundles, right after Grass Dancer, but didn't feel it was ready for publication so I didn't hand it over to the publisher. They'd changed the name and begun promoting it which is why there's mistaken information about it floating around. Now I know what's wrong with it but I'm currently working on a different novel, Harvard Indian Séance, which is a ghost novel set in Massachusetts where I lived for many years."
