Well, a quick and dirty summary of volume one is that Komomo was a rich girl who enjoyed picking on a servant of hers and forcing him to make sweets for her. Years later, her family loses all its money and she ends up having to work for said servant in his sweets shop. Servant wants revenge and delights in making her cry. You find out that Komomo is really just a clueless former-rich-girl, finding out she's just a generally nice person if clueless on how the world works.
