I have watched the movie, and enjoyed it's quirkiness. Is it worth reading the book?

Laura I have not read the book, but I have watched the movie. Do you think the book is a worthwhile read?
James (JD) Dittes The movie is better (something I seldom say). The book had a hard time making the leap from Greg's goofiness to the seriousness of Rachel's sickness. The movie (Jesse Andrews also wrote the screenplay) does a better job with the whole story.

One of the biggest differences between the movie and the book is the lack of RJ Cyler. His Earl in the movie was a great job of acting, bringing to life a character that I hadn't been able to "see" as I read the book.
