Oni There are many novellas written in the same world that you could read. Oftentimes, they feature characters from the main story...

Kingkiller world:
- 'How Old Holly Came to Be'
- 'The Lightning Tree'
- 'The Slow Regard to Silent Things'

Game of Thrones world:
- 'The Hedge Knight'
- 'The Sworn Sword'
- 'The Mystery Knight'
- 'The Princess and the Queen or, the Blacks and the Greens'
- 'The Rogue Prince, or, the King's Brother'
ironicinori Lord of The Rings, Eragon, Malazan, The Stormlight Archive, The First Law.

There are quite literally too many epic fantasy series to finish in a lifetime. Hopefully you can find some others to take up.
Aaron Toponce When you say "similar", what do you mean? The Name of the Wind is really unique in its execution of story telling. I wouldn't put it anywhere near A Song of Ice and Fire. Both series are very, very different, IMO.

With that said, there are some great fantasy authors out there. Check out the books by Brandon Sanderson. The Stormlight Archive is a 10 book epic saga, and he's currently writing the 3rd book. The Mistborn saga is more developed, with an original trilogy, a stand alone, and a new trilogy in the works, with the first book out, and the second releasing in a couple months. He also has the Reckoners trilogy (3rd book due in a couple months also), Warbreaker (a stand alone), Alcatraz (younger readers) and a number of novellas. This guy is a machine.

There is also the Shannara series by Terry Brooks which is dozens of books long, and the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan which is a 15 book commitment. Lord of the Rings, Dune Chronicles, Chronicles of Narnia, & The Demon Cycle.

So really, there are a lot of great fantasy authors out there, you just need to qualify exactly what you're looking for.
