asked:
I've been turned off of fantasy ever since The Wheel of Time series started to falter around book five or six. Yet I've seen books rated so high (Rothfuss) that I had to try them, and still, I didn't like them. Is this one worth it? Or is it just another among a new wave of these supposed "fantastic" fantasy novels that don't live up to their hype (in my opinion)...?

I stopped reading TWOT around book 9. Just couldn't go on dunno why to be honest.
But this series is ok. The books focus only on a few characters, world is big enough. I'm a slow reader and I don't want books with too many characters and perspectives. It's not as intricate and as well written as Martin's SoFaI series but i was more entertained by Abercrombies characters.
Just don't set your expectations too high.
