No. Werner returned to the grotto to retrieve the model house. He replaced the stone with the key, and, presumably, threw the stone back into the ocean (thus, keeping the curse broken / away from Marie-Laure. He wanted not wealth, but the best connection he could retain to Marie-Laure: the symbol of the house where she lived, the key she gave him.
