Yogesh Jain Our Hero would have blackmailed the King into it just like he did in the ending.
Rachel I'm thinking that they wouldn't have been married... But this IS a romance novel, so my alternate ending proposal is that Dillon would have ceded his title to his brother in order to be in a position to marry a woman not of the nobility. That way there's still the HEA. I thought it was a little TOO convenient that Alyssa turned out to be the estranged bastard daughter of a nobleman, and was actually expecting Dillon to step down for the majority of the book.
