Christina/ The Blog for Teachers, Readers, & Life! I would say Historical Mystery. I would agree with Gretchen Smith. Themes are too morbid, there are not many lighthearted parts that you see in a typical cozy mystery. Also, many of the issues are too taboo for the cozy mysteries.
Gretchen Smith Definitely Historical Mystery. The ending and actual crime are a little too dark for a cozy mystery. It is, however, a great read for rainy evenings with a cozy blanket and some tea!
Krista I'd consider this to be a Historical Mystery. I don't think it falls in the genre of Cozy Mystery because of the prominent involvement of a police officer throughout the story.
SFrick I'd consider them as murder mysteries and not really very much as historical mysteries. The Maggie Hope series would be in the category of historical mysteries.
