Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Ginger Bensman The inspiration for To Swim really came from an amalgam of ideas. I wondered what it would be like to have memories of experiences that were almost part of your DNA that nobody would believe (hence reincarnation). And for years I've been haunted by a small story I read in a newspaper about a little girl who froze to death on the front porch of the house where her family lived. The way I pictured her seemed not unlike photographs I'd seen of the mummy of the Inca boy left for sacrifice on Chile's Mt. Plomo more than 400 years ago (discovered in 1954).
