This question contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I am not done reading this; but i don't understand why Teyn/Leo/Lain had to lie to Myranda in book 1 concerning where/how he spent his first 10 years (he said orphanage). As I am writing this, I thought perhaps the shame of what he did prior to leaving the Plantation, but then I realized when Myranda & Leo were sharing, he portrayed no shame in what he has done throughout his life. Insights? Why did he lie? (hide spoiler)]
