Is this book appropriate for an 8 year old to read? My daughter loves Ronda Rousey and watches UFC all the time. She take jiu jitsu, muay thai and MMA classes. Thanks

Jennifer Be warned that the F-word is rampant. It's seriously on every page at least three times. I would read it aloud to a child, so I could edit out the profanity.

L-D I am not a parent, but I would say no. Ronda does talk about some of her relationships with ex-boyfriends and there are very sensitive issues such as her father's suicide, how Ronda ran away from home, as well as some explicit language.

Andy Sprich I am half through it and I think it is a great story for them to hear, but maybe not the best to read as it is. I have 2 girls, 9 & 11, who both have been exposed to plenty, but I still would not let them read this on their own. I do pick parts out to read and just filter as I go along. It is a great inspiration, but yeah, I would say needs a filter for younger girls.

Mia I think it entirely depends on what your kid's been exposed to so far. Rousey touches some very sensitive topics, from her father's suicide and how that affects her, to relationships with ex-boyfriends, some injuries she's suffered and so on. I think it would be appropriate to read it with them so that they truly understand these sensitive topics and take away what's really important from them.

Camila N. I think that maybe you could read it first yourself, and then read some chapters to her. If you see something you woudln't like her to read, you could skip it.

Chris I disagree with the previous answers. I see no problem with an 8 year old reading this. Yes, there are a couple of curse words and rough language (at the appropriate places), but so what? At 8 years old most kids know those words anyway. "Bad" words is not what ruins a child.

I think this book would be very educational for kids to read, especially if its a kid with martial arts interests. If your daughter is tough enough to practice the sports you mention, she'll have no problem reading this book.
