Kafka on the shore would be a good starter.

I recommend reading Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman - some Murakami novels will be draggy for beginners, but his short stories are pure joy, will make you want more.

"Wild Sheep Chase" is what made me a fan followed by "Dance, Dance, Dance"

Kafka on the shore is a good choice. It is the book that I liked most about the author, maybe the only one.
