Well, I can't say much or I will spoil everything, but it's kinda like paranormal stuff, not scary or anything it's just not normal but anyways there is this girl and out of nowhere her life is turned upside down and she get these powers that are given to her so she can protect this certain person, because there are people trying to kill this person she is trying to protect and I can tell you this book is awesome and really worth reading. This is one of the books that we have a badass girl instead of a guy, and I loved it! I hope this helps.
