Goodreads asked Donna Maguire:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Donna Maguire I have a Basset Hound and he attracts attention everywhere we go because of his big droopy ears and extra large snout. When you research the breed you learn that these same traits that can make him a bit of a clown at times, are also what make him really good at his main job...tracking. Today so many young people are worried about what other children or people think of them. They can be filled with self doubt. This led me to realize that Winston (Silly Willy Winston as I call him) could be a great role model for self-acceptance and empowerment. He could demonstrate through humorous stories that being different is positive and powerful. At the same time his lovable personality is all about using his strengths for the betterment of his friends.
