Goodreads asked Vanayssa Somers:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Vanayssa Somers If you really want to get published by a traditional publisher, watch for suggestions coming into your inbox, offering ideas for publishers seeking submissions. Don't give up. Don't keep your manuscript under the bed. If it needs more work, then give it more work. If it is as ready as you can make it, keep looking for publishers to send it to. Don't let the dust bunnies get it. One thing I can suggest, seriously, is, if you have had a number of rejects, try putting it up on the free e-book sites. Then track the number of downloads as the months go by. When you have around a thousand downloads and a few five star ratings, then submit it again to a traditional publisher. It might fly after that.
