Learn your craft! I've taught writing too, and found that while most beginning writers have good ideas, they may be weak on organization and (goodness knows!) a lot of beginners are poor on grammar and punctuation. "I learned to write in third grade," seems to be the reasoning, "how hard can it be?" Honey, it's hard.
