Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
I've felt the pull of sport my whole life and I love to write, but it took an experience one rainy October night in Oakland for me to bring these two passions together. That evening, I experienced the full spectrum of emotions that sports can provide. It was joyful and it was sad. Frustrating and euphoric. “Diehards” is the closest I’ve come to bottling up those feelings – the litany of emotions that make up the diehard experience. I wished to explore the evolution of casual fans into diehards and understand better why fans get so wrapped up in these moments. Is it in our DNA? What are the impacts of fandom on our life outside of the ballpark? It's all a fascinating exploration for me and I hope the end result is something that fans and non-fans alike will enjoy as much as I enjoyed writing it!
