I was fascinated by the remnants of the old Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal locks nestled in the woods of the Susquehanna State Park near Havre de Grace, Md. The area and the time period was intriguing because of its place in the American Canal Era, involvement with the Underground Railroad, and as a microcosm of mid nineteenth century America.It all flowed through Havre de Grace.
