If I'm struggling with plot issues then I find the best solution is to go for a walk. It gets me into the right frame of mind. I can think things through in a way that doesn't come easily when I'm sitting in front of a screen. I carry my digital voice recorder or my phone so I can mutter notes and ideas as I go along. I get some strange looks sometimes! Mostly though I'm out in the countryside.

Nick do you get any inspiration form other authors for your books, such as the Raymond Chandler's? The three books are 'The Lady in the Lake' The High Window' 'The Little Sister' these are great stories but the descriptive quotes are sometimes magic. I'm sure a little plagiarism at this stage would probably go unnoticed and bring some great tit bits back to todays readers. Thank Nick for your reply.
