Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
I knew that Eagle Creek would be my first published series. I planned it that way very intentionally, because as a new writer, I am very aware that there would be a big learning curve for me. Eagle Creek is based on the region where I grew up. You've probably heard the expression "write what you know." Well, I wanted to take what I knew and change it around into something that I thought would be fun to talk about. There are elements of places and people I've known most of my life and experiences I've personally had, but everything is fictionalized and stylized. Fiction often works in extremes, so while absolutely nothing and no one in Eagle Creek is specifically based on anything in reality, there are shades in the series that will be immensely familiar to any person from the SW Oklahoma/N Texas area. I wanted to send a piece of my heart--a piece of my home--out into the world.
