To me there are 'crunch' points in each story. Parts that you will reach a ravine in, eg. How does the character or situation evolve to where I want it to be next. They can be simple from a conversation to movement or even a battle scene. When you get stuck, go for a walk (dogs help), and look at the scene from every angle, maybe even look at an addition to the story that would create the link.
