So while I loved the book, every word of it, I love imagining that we are always on our way to a better world where people are treated with kindness, despite their deep hurt.

I was single and aware when AIDS started showing up and I'd say that most people's attitudes have moved considerably, unless they're the type to think that it is God's punishment for sin. I don't think you ever change the thinking of people like that.
