In my opinion, Christians should be able to read anything, except maybe prom. As for the magic, that is just a backdrop for a fantasy story. The real story is about a young man who, through no fault of his own, finds himself the only thing standing between those he loves and a very evil man. It is a story of courage and determination in the face seemingly insurmountable odds. And that is a story that any Christian should read.

I don't really see why not. Unless you feel extremely guilty for reading it. Though from my pov, there's really nothing wrong for people with any kind of religion to read a fictional novel.. lol.
