Goodreads asked William Diebold:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

William Diebold Read. After 25 years as an advertising photographer I am now a teacher in high school. I chose to teach because I wanted to tell students they can have a great living in a career in an art related field. However, this generation mostly does not want to read and right and are being wooed by the instant gratification of the electronic media that pervades their lives. It is sad, and I push reading and writing in all of my digital imaging classes as a consequence to reinforce their English grammar. Bookstores are closing, but that does not mean we should turn into non readers. Quite the opposite, really. We now can read with more ease than ever in the history of mankind. We should embrace and celebrate that.
