I read the book but I cant understand this one thing,do Akiva and Karou end up in a long distance kind of relationship?can they meet only during dream season?or do they have to stay away from each other until Akiva masters magic and Karou is done with souls?

Tracy C I was under the impression that they didn't necessarily have to stay away from each other but Akiva had to stay because he has to work on controlling his magic and that Karou had to leave to let Akiva focus and because the chimaera needed her.
I don't know about the dream season, it's been awhile since I've read it.
