You should read this one (at least the 'Alpha and Omega' story) before 'Cry Wolf', as 'Cry Wolf' picks up the story from the point this one finishes and parts of the beginning of 'Cry Wolf' are not very clearly explained and don't make much sense unless you've read 'Alpha and Omega'. By the way, you don't have to read the whole 'On the Prowl' book for this - 'Alpha and Omega' is only one story and the other three are unrelated fantasy by different authors. 'Alpha and Omega' can be purchased separately on Kindle.
However, if you haven't done so already, I would recommend reading 'Moon Called' before reading either of them. This introduces the ideas behind the world, and the characters of Bran and Charles, and explains some background. It's also a fantastic book. :)
Hope that helps.
