You can definitely read this book as a stand alone. I actually read Tana French's series out of order because I picked up a 'middle book' not knowing it was part of a series and then loved it so much I wanted to read all her books.
If you've read other Tana French books, it will give you some background context on the characters (like Holly's father Frank) but it's totally fine if you start with this book and then go on to read her others :)
