What do you think is the significance of Beth's character in the story of Little Women?

Rochelle Her act of kindness towards that poor family and her contracting scarlet fever because of it and because her older siblings neglected it in absence of their mother.

Her character reminds us not to forget kindness or stop being kind and helpful when no one's looking over you. She was the most selfless of all.
