Kellene Because that is how it is pronounced in the city of the Charleston. The name is that of a Huguenot silversmith, so not sure if it is the French influence or that of the Lowcountry itself.
LibraryCin It was driving me nuts, as well! I finally decided it was meant to be 3 syllables, but it's said so fast it sounds like 2. (I thought it was Le-gair Street until I listened to the audio.)
