While you should always read series books in the correct order, it is not essential to have read the first book in order to understand and enjoy this book.

I would say yes, because it gives you the storyline and the characters. All the characters continue through each book and each one of them has their own likes and dislikes. Suspense, erotica, BDSM, toys, action, fast reads. I read books 1-4 within a few days.
