So many characters in this series. Does anyone know who that was that came with a small army in the end at the gathering and asked Jamie about his father?

Carol It was the son of Gavin Hayes who was hung in the first few pages of the book. Gavin was in Ardsmuir Prison along with Jamie. When the prison was closed Gavin was sent to the New World, while Jamie was sent to Helwater in England as a parolee of Lord John Gray. In the first few pages of "Drums of Autumn," before he is hung, Gavin tells Jamie he has no family except for a son somewhere, although he thought the son was dead. At the end of the book, Gavin's son, Airchie, who is now with the North Carolina Highland Regiment, introduces himself to Jamie. Further proof that life goes on, which is one of the themes of the book.
