I'm just over halfway through the first book and there's been a fair bit about dragons. They have dialogue, interactions with characters, etc. They're actual characters - not metaphors - so I think you'll be happy with the book, :).

Don't worry, it actually has dragons in it. Generally only the bad guys have dragons, though there are a few exceptions.
